What is a Physical Therapist?

Physical therapists are university trained and are experts in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, rehabilitation and many other areas of sport and health and fitness.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, and list of medication. Wear comfortable clothing!

How many visits will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the physical therapist will discuss their treatment plan with you for your rehabilitation process.

Will my insurance cover my visits?

We recommend contacting your carrier for clarification of coverage of services before your first visit. As a courtesy, we will bill your carrier, but you are responsible for any deductibles, co-pays, or non-covered charges.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

In the state of Florida, physical therapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor for 30 days. However most health insurers require a doctors referral before they authorize cover of fees.

How long do appointments last?

Most appointments are about 55 minutes long, but some may be shorter or longer, depending on what you and your therapist decide is best for you.

Treatment duration depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your impairments, your past medical history, and other factors. Re-evaluations will be done to assess your progress and your therapist may communicate with your physician to help you achieve your therapy goals.
